Work highlights

• Acted in a collision matter involving a bulk carrier and a tug and barge unit, with claims in excess of SGD 5 million. The matter involved onboard investigations, review of vessel records, analysis of VDR, AIS and ARPA data, liability apportionment, security and General Average issues.

• Acted in the defence of an SGD 2.8 million claim before the Singapore High Court arising from a major fire incident involving multiple pleasure crafts.

• Acted in a charterparty dispute involving speed, underperformance and off-hire claims. The matter involved review of the vessel’s performance data and related technical reports.

• Acted for Japanese cargo interests and their insurers in a cargo damage dispute involving CRA pipelines.

• Acted for marine insurers in relation to a coverage dispute arising from the total loss of a barge. The matter involved breach of express warranties, seaworthiness and policy liability.

• Assisted in The "Navigator Aries" [2023] SGCA 20, a major collision matter between a container vessel and an LPG tanker in a narrow channel at Selat Surabaya, Indonesia, involving claims in excess of USD 28 million, culminating in a two-week trial before the Singapore High Court and subsequent proceedings before the Singapore Court of Appeal.

• Assisted in an offshore construction dispute involving two semi-submersible drilling rigs, with claims in excess of SGD 1 billion, heard before two separate arbitral tribunals in London.

• Assisted in an SCMA arbitration involving an allision between two crude oil tankers in Indonesia.
